A new season of The Essentials

TCM's long-running Saturday night series, The Essentials, returns tonight at 8:00 PM. There's a new host, as director Ava Duvernay has been replaced by director Brad Bird, of animated movies such as The Incredibles. Tonight's first selection is Singin' in the Rain.

There's also the Essentials website, which as usual isn't particularly great, although there is a link to the full schedule which runs through the end of next January. It looks as though there are 20 movies, each of which gets two showings; repeats start on September 19 as far as I can tell and don't go in quite the same order as the first run-through.
