Ann Sheridan (l.) and Ronald Reagan in Kings Row (June 9 at 8:00 PM)
We're in the first full week of a new month, which means it's time for a new Star of the Month. This time out, it's Ann Sheridan, whom I mentioned a few months back as the "Oomph Girl". Her movies are going to be airing every Tuesday in prime time, starting this Tuesday with a bunch of her early roles. The night kicks off at 8:00 with Black Legion, a movie I blogged about eight years ago.
As for the rest of the month, it seems to be organized thematically rather than chronologically, as June 9 has Sheridan in a bunch of her dramatic roles not in any particular order. These include what might be Sheridan's most promient picture, Kings Row, at 8:00 PM June 9.
On the 30th we get Sheridan in a night of movies with frequent co-stars. This includes Humphrey Bogart, who is of course the star of Black Legion which I mentioned above. But the two are also in another early movie in both their careers, San Quention, which is on in the overnight hours, so technically July 1 on the east coast, at 1:45 AM. There's also James Cagney in the surprisingly rarely shown City for Conquest at 8:00 PM on the 30th.
