Now that we're into October, we're beginning to get blocks of horror movies and a bunch of Halloween-themed stuff on non-TCM channels. As for TCM, this means a block of horror movies every Friday night before TCM Underground. This starts off at 8:00 PM tonight with the Bela Lugosi Dracula, followed at 9:30 PM by the original Cat People.
A couple of weeks back, somebody over at the TCM boards mentioned seeing something that TCM was talking about "TCM Slumberground", whatever that is. Nobody knew at the time, but in looking at the revamped TCM site, I saw that there was a blurb about Slumberground. My first reading made me think that some TCM staffers would be live-blogging the airing, which sounds like it might be fun. But there's a "Watch Now" link at the bottom of the blurb, which takes you to a 20-minute Youtube video of the discussion:
I probably should have mentioned the passing of Helen Reddy which was announced on Tuesday. Of course, she's best known as a singer, but she did some acting too, singing an Oscar-nominated song from Pete's Dragon, and telling Linda Blair in Airport '75 that she is her own best friend:
One other reason to be irritated with the changes to the TCM schedule pages is that the synopses get cut off in the middle when you're trying to copy/paste text to a .txt file. I didn't pay close enough attention when I was copying, so I didn't notice it. But it looks like there's no way to expand the synopses as everything is just a link to the movie's own page in the TCMDb.
